World Heritage Site: Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park

Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park is South Africa’s third-largest sheltered area, also known as iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Straddling 280 km of coastline, this world heritage site is home to only one of its kind ecosystems, rich biodiversity and exquisite wildlife sanctuary, owing to which it attracts travelers from all over the world round the year. It marks for most of the tourist attractions in South Africa:
Cape St Lucia Lighthouse
Bizarrely painted in bold black and white bands, a come back to the unique color scheme of 1906, the Cape St Lucia Lighthouse stands eight meters tall on a mount amid dark forest on domesticated sand dunes.
Beach Rides on Horse Back
You can ride the horses all along Iphiva Beach at the northern end of St Lucia which owes it beauty to spotless white sand with the Indian Ocean gently sloping in besides.
Emoyeni Trail
This trek hits the town in the Mfabeni division of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park which has been proclaimed as one the most striking parts of the park.
Igwala Gwala Forest Trail
Named after the purple crested turaco, Igwala Gwala Forest Trail is familiarly known as the ‘lovers’ lane’. A dumpy path situated at the outer trail will take you downhill to the waterway where the tourist can spot several water birds.
Deep Sea Fishing Charter
While you are out at sea you can see Bottle Nose dolphin which often swim in the wake of the boat and from June to November you are guaranteed to see whales. You can also enjoy a unique "beach launch" at first light, as the sun rises.
